Bring Back The Flare

Bring back the flare! Okay so I know flared jeans are not for everyone and I know that each person has their comfort zone when it comes to pants,  but seriously give them a chance! Sometimes we get lost in the world of skinny jeans and leggings and forget how flattering flared jeans can be. My biggest tip for wearing them is to make sure they're long and to wear heals!!!!!!!

If you have a long pair of flares with some heals you can't help but create the illusion of loooooonng legs ;) Trust me I love my skinnys, they are my go-to pants, but when I want to make a statement  I wiggle into my flairs, strap on my wedges, and walk tall.

My Favorite Long T-shirt

My two requirements for clothing is comfort and style. As a mom I am constantly picking up, bending down, and running around and I  want to feel comfortable while doing it. That's why I have the Long T-shirt from H&M in 4 colors! My favorite is always black and white striped ;)! The best part about their long T-shirt is that it only costs $9.99, what a steal!

The shirt comes in 8 colors that pair nicely with any outfit and I'm sure in no time I will have them ALL. Whether I'm running to the store, teaching dance, or going out on the town the Long T-shirt has me covered. Follow this link and see if its something that you would add to your wardrobe!

Easy Silhouette Photo

After perusing Pinterest for cute maternity photo ideas I was quickly drawn to simple black and white silhouette photos. With no photo shoot budget I had to get creative about how I was going to get the look with the tools I had.

1. Get your shot
When I was close to my due date I had several people reach out to me asking if they could do a maternity session with me. Now if people aren't knocking on your door to take photos of you then reach out to them! Almost everyone these days has an expensive camera and needs an excuse to practice their new found skills as a photographer. My shoot was done by my close friend as a gift but if all else fails use your phone/camera and have a neighbor or relative take some photos of you!

2. Find the light
The biggest thing you need for a silhouette shadow photo is lots of back lighting. We stood in front of the biggest window in my house, that happened to have sheer white curtains, and used the mid day light.

3. Edit with VSCO
VSCO is a free photo altering app that has lots of filters and special editing tools that make any picture go from ordinary to amazing in a few easy steps. VSCO is really user friendly so just download it and play around with the different filters!

(Here is a photo of the edits I picked for my silhouette photo)

4. Share your gorgeous photo!
After adding your finishing touches, share your photo and be prepared for lots of 'likes'! If you have a camera, back lighting, and the VSCO app, or any other editing app, you have everything you need to create a beautiful black and white silhouette photo shoot.

Hopefully this helps you with your next low budget photo shoot. As a new mom on a budget I'm always trying to find ways to create things with what I have and I hope you can too!

i'm not like a regular mom

So, this was an impulse buy! I got home from my cleaning job at 1:00am and was browsing etsy for cute things until I needed to feed Emry at 2:00am. I mean what's the point of going to sleep for an hour? Well, I ended up finding this precious little shirt and if you know the quote you can't help but think of Amy Poehler in a pink sweater. If you don't know the quote then stop what you are doing, get out from under that rock, and rent Mean Girls! It received an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes and it is basically one of the most epic movies from 2004 that you will ever see.

If you love the T-shirt as much as I do and decide to get one of your own make sure to size up, or you can order your true size for a snug fit. Painted Arrow Designs does a really good job, but honestly there are tons of "I'm not a regular mom I'm a cool mom" T-shirts out on the market. Pair it with some distressed jeans and a little confidence and you are set!
